| Hi, so I'm relatively new to Pittsburgh, at least in the sense that I'm not yet fully familiar with where to get good food.
I need good jam.
When I first moved here, I got some awesome jam in Toronto, and then mid-way through summer I bought more delicious jam when I went to Lancaster (at Kauffmans.)
But I recently ran out and I've yet to find any good jam here in Pittsburgh.
And I'm not brave enough to buy anything expensive just to find out it's awful.
I keep buying Trader Joe's brand and it makes me sad inside. Because it's gross. And it totally ruins the awesome scones I get from the Mediterra bakehouse (via the East End Co-op.)
So plase share with me what you know about good jam in the 'burgh. (And other food too!) | comments: 11 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hello, fellow Pittsburghers!
I've spent the past 18 months renovating an apartment and now it's ready to rent. If anyone is looking to rent an efficiency apartment in the South Side, please contact me for all the details via my LJ or my email: fastercat6860@yahoo.com
I hope it's okay to post this and THANKS!

Hi there! I'm back on LJ after a long hiatus and losing my interest to post on my old journal. I intend to change all that with this new journal. So far I only have two tiny entries but I hope to expand that, as the holiday season falls upon us and as my creativity progresses.
I'm looking for friends who'd be interested in the same things I am and would leave a comment every now and then when they feel so inclined. I like reading about all sorts of things - even if you think your life is boring, I'll probably still find something to say about it! I am: ...from Pennsylvania ...26-years old ...a single (bisexual, though I prefer men) female (not really looking though) ...a huge fan of Matthew Gray Gubler and Criminal Minds ...a fan of Dexter, House M.D., Six Feet Under and CSI (Vegas, not Miami or NY so much) ...a starving artist always seeking inspiration, a muse, anything! ...the proud owner of two cute cats and a stupid dog ...interested in people and things of all sorts, especially unique and/or creative/artsy-fartsy types ...sarcastic, dry, "dark" ...almost always at home due to chronic knee problems and seizures ...interested in getting into the "world" of LJ - i.e. I'd love to start making icons, picspams, etc. ...terrified of clowns ...made of skin and bones so I hate cold weather And of course there's more info on my profile page! If you have some things in common or just want to add me then feel free (with the exception of friends collectors please. I don't want to be just a number) and I'll most likely add you back. Thanks for reading and I hope to get acquainted with some of you! x-posted

| Oh, for the love of Mike.
The Idiot Boy mayor has asked city council to tax college students for the privilege of going to school in Pittsburgh.
While Pitt and UPMC remain tax exempt.
Does anybody else see anything wrong with this picture? Let's tax poor college students (many of whom are city residents or employees of city businesses, and thus *already* taxed for their use of city services) while the wealthiest corporations in our city continue to cry "non-profit!" and pay nothing.
Oy vey ...

| Anyone know what's going on with all the helicopters and police cars zooming around downtown? I'm in Oxford Center and a police helicopter flew by my window a few minutes back, it zoomed in between Oxford and the Grant Building, which was pretty crazy.
I know the Russell Crowe movie is filming on the Allegheny River bridges today, is this madness for that? Or is it other madness entirely? | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| | This afternoon after I bought a few items at the Giant Eagle on Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill, I left the bag on my car seat and then walked down the street to Barnes & Noble. When I came back, there was a store-generated note on my windshield with my license number filled in, reminding me that parking there is allowed only while you're actually shopping, not while you're then running errands nearby, and drivers not actively shopping are subject to getting their buggies towed away. I'm guessing they're keeping track of cars that park there repeatedly. I think I might have been noticed exiting the parking lot on foot by a guy rounding up grocery carts. Over the past couple of years, I've parked there many times without actually shopping, but this is the first time anything has been said about it. Just thought I'd let you know. Have you ever been towed from there? | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |

| So, I am going to post my response to Kyle's assignment to me, mostly because the originality of it struck me. No pictures though, I apologize.
( Literary snogging and such )
That one was fun, now for my responses to Kense's assignment. No pictures again, I am too lazy to look for them.
( Because she told me so... )
Anna also posted this one which I participated. My answers first, and then the directions if anybody else wants to participate.
1( 5 questions asked )
Ok, now if anybody else wants to play...here is how to do it!
Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile." • I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity • Update your journal with the answers to the questions • Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

| I've been telling various friends about the love that is Tim-Tams. A friend sent me a package from Australia years ago, and I'm getting a serious craving.
Is there anywhere in the city that sells them? I'd love to be able to get my friends addicted, too.
